The music of HuDost, the Neo Folk World Rock Ensemble from Montreal and KY, weaves a seamless tapestry of sound that renders tears and laughter in listeners, cultivating that nameless longing that abides somewhere in all our hearts. HuDost’s core musicians are Moksha Sommer and Jemal Wade Hines. Having toured the US, Canada, and Europe constantly since April 2006, HuDost has grown and expanded, travelled rocky and glorious terrain and marveled at all they can learn and explore. Moksha and Jemal Wade, in this time have grown as artists, as seekers, as a couple and as a family. In 2013 their amazing son was brought into the world.

Ode to Touring

Ah the sweet exhaustion of performing and schlepping gear and driving
infinite hours.
I wake, wishing each morning to again
Sleep,
But am roused by what it is to bring forward
Trails of sound
Murmuring and swelling and striding and gracing through me
To people whose cells they
Collide with
The sounds last only as long as it takes for the waves to die
Only as long as it takes memories to warp
With time

Not long

From inside the moving car
Landscapes bear
Their pieces in fragmented segments
It is only if
I do not watch
I do not yield to the pulling
Beauty of
A thin line of sun struck water moving adjunct
To factory settlements
That I can see the whole
Otherwise, I see the holes
Of what we call America

Rows of houses that are all the same

But through my mind parades an open arena
Of vast thought
That all are marching through

The dwellers of the homes and I share the ability
To divide moments
And lives and see the endless ness
But
we wear our faces
As rows of houses that are all the same

That is why,
At the end of the day
When my sounds have marched in lines
And circled back into me,
When I lay with chasms under my eyes and am
Crawling into sleep
It is the opened
Opens
Of the people who have heard and allowed splintering
That
Flash across the well of my gaze
And trail me into dream
It is the opened
Opens that
Trails me into dream

HuDost @ Spirituality and Creative Process- Power and Transformation

Spirituality and Creative Process- Power and Transformation, Seattle, WA

August 3-5This retreat will be led by Devi Tide (head of the Sufi Healing Order) and Moksha Sommer and Jemal Wade Hines (the leaders of HuDost).Creativity is a very powerful spiritual tool. Spiritual practice is a very effectual creative tool. By using creative practice we unlock impressions that we do not need to hold in our psyches and in our spirits. Creativity can liberate love and empathy in ways we have never previously known. Spiritual practice can have an incredible partnering effect with creative process by opening the space within our beings and lives for astonishing inspiration. Together creative process and spiritual practice form a partnership that fosters healthy humans who are manifesting incredible creative works. This workshop is not just for artists but for anyone wishing to foster healing, prosperity, love, and an open channel with a greater unlimited source. This workshop will explore breath, sound, movement, rhythm, emotion and presence through spiritual work with creative expression. Teachings on healing will be explored. The group will be encouraged to dance and sing their way through the clearing of blocked channels. We will venture through these practices with singing, dancing, drawing, painting, and writing exercises that explore wild mind and channeled poetry. Participants will leave with their own visual and poetic expressions of what they can access by clearing the pathways to the source of omnipotent love. HuDost @ Beloved Festival

Beloved Festival, Tidewater, OR

HuDost is thrilled! About Beloved:Beloved is a 4-day sacred art, music, and movement festival on the Oregon Coast. Beloved is a healing event. Beloved is a model for a culture that understands the depth of our connection with each other, to the planet, and to our souls. Beloved is all of the names and forms of the Divine, affirming their Unity. We respectfully present sacred music from diverse global traditions; we acknowledge conscious dance music as fitting into the broader context of sacred and healing music. Beyond a unique mix of sacred music from around the world, we offer interactive art installations, live painting, local organic cuisine, and educational programming—including workshops on yoga, healing, relationships, social and environmental justice, and the music and wisdom of ancient cultures. Our goal is to dissolve the boundaries that isolate us through music, dance, and play. We demand of ourselves that, in the pursuit of our goals, we deepen our own connection to, and respect for, the earth and that we educate and inspire participants to do the same.
